ACT II
Scene I
Today, the curtain came up on an “unheard” of event. My right ear heard sound.
And I did create a bit of a scene. It was, admittedly, an emotional moment for me.
This morning at KUMC(Kansas Univ Medical Center) I literally said to my audiologist…”Rachel, lets fire it up and see what she can do !!
Then when the first sounds registered with my brain all the bravado was gone. I was a bit overwhelmed with wonder and gratitude for everyone and everything that came together to get me to this threshold.
I was told, “Today, we just want you to hear ‘something.’ Your brain will figure out what it is and it will just keep getting better.” And then when I could distinguish “words”, was when I knew for certain that this was going to work for me !
I am going to be able to hear better.
Sounds are not “normal”… tinny and a little fuzzy…but discernible ….and its just the first day.
Hearing is supposed to peak in six months to a year, but can continue to improve beyond that. Especially for music.
That’s now the Holy Grail for me. I so miss music.
So Act II is underway and there will be no spoilers in this review……we’ll all just all have to wait to see how it turns out.
Yabba Dabba Doo … your underway !!
